Standard Settings
- In the main window, select Settings > Detailed
Settings.
- OR right-click the firewall
icon in the system tray and select Detailed Settings
in the pop-up menu.

Settings
Launch firewall
- Automatically: Firewall will start automatically
upon system startup. This is the default setting.
- Manually: Firewall must be launched manually by
the user.
Rule priority
- When there is any conflict between Application
rules and IP rules, the firewall will proceed with
the selected option, Applications or IP.
- Example: Application rules allow Internet Explorer
to access the network, while IP rules prohibit access
to the Rising website. If you select Applications,
then you can access the Rising website. If you select
IP, you cannot access the Rising website.
Sound alert
- Choose whether to sound an alert when your computer
is being attacked.
- You can click Browse to select the sound
file (*.wav) for the alert.
Show status balloon
- This will display a balloon at the bottom right
of your screen whenever the firewall status has
been changed. This is selected by default.
Create logs
- Choose the types of events to record in logs.
- These include: Trojan scan, Activity,
Options, Application denial
and Rule edits.
Click "Settings" for detailed log
settings:
- Log size: Set log size. The default
size is 5 MB.
- Show __ items per page: Set the
number of items shown per page. The default number
is 500.
- Backup when maximum size reached:
This will automatically backup the logs when they
reach the maxmium log size. This is checked by default.
- Backup limit: Set the maximum
size of backup files. The default size is 100 MB.
- Backup to: Choose where to save
the backup files. Click Browse to change
the path.
Choose whether to allow applications
to connect to the network in the following modes:
- Each mode has three actions:
- Deny: Request for network
access by applications will be denied without
prompting the user.
- Allow: Request for network
access by applications will be allowed without
prompting the user.
- Ask me: User will be prompted
whether to allow network access.
- There are six modes. These settings affect whether
applications not otherwise specified in Application
rules are allowed to access the network.
- Screen Saver: Applies when
the screen saver is running. The default setting
is "Deny".
- Locked: Applies when the
computer is locked. The default setting is "Deny".
- Online Game: Applies when
the user is playing an online game specified
in Game Guard. The default setting is "Deny".
- Shopping Mode: Applies when
the firewall is set to Shopping Mode. The default
setting is "Deny".
- Logged Out: Applies when
the user is logged out of Windows. The default
setting is "Deny".
- Silent Mode: Applies when
the firewall is set to Silent Mode. The default
setting is "Deny".
The firewall will automatically enter Screen Saver,
Logged Out, Locked and Online Game modes. The
user must manually switch between Shopping, Silent
and Standard modes. Refer to Switch Mode.
